Cafe N’Orleans officially opened November 5th, 2007 providing many signature dishes of New Orleans. Having already tasted their beans and rice and gumbo I can vouch , Aieeee!!! Ca C’est Bon!!

Having outgrown their space on Cumberland, they are now located at 161 East Main Street. With a lot more seated, beautiful decor, and expanded menu, Cafe N’Orleans is making a name for itself. Their hours & menu have recently been expanded.

My husband and I ate at Cafe N’Orleans yesterday for lunch. He had a jazzed up veggie po’ boy and I enjoyed a satisfying 1/2 and 1/2 special combo (red beans & rice along with tomato bisque soup). Yum! We opted to take advantage of the marvelous autumn weather by eating outside. The Mardi Gras decor and authentic music was delightful. We danced along with the music while waiting for our meals to arrive. It was a true lunch date – we give it two thumbs (and kick our heels) up!

On the downside: no beignets yet. (That is, admittedly, actually a good thing for my waistline!) I asked Sherrie, who said it was a quality control issue (better no beignets than imperfect beignets). Have no fear, they will be here soon. Yay! I’m looking forward to sipping a hot cup of Cafe du Monde while sharing decadent beignets with my dearest love.

Being a new (and small) restaurant, there are still kinks to be worked out. That’s to be expected. Please be patient and welcome these new neighbors into our DownTown community. The more welcoming we are to independent restaurateurs and their establishments, the more new and exciting dining options we will have. I, for one, am excited about the diversity in culinary choices emerging DownTown and look forward to having happy tastebuds for years to come.

    Hi Sherrie,
I’m glad to see a CCUG-PC member has made it good and know you will be a great success there. The only bad thing is you’re so far away and we love to try new places to eat. Here in Ponchatoula LA we’d love to have your place to go to. Your menu looks delicious and the prices are really reasonable, less than most places we eat here. Normally we’re lucky if we get anything besides fast food for under $20 for the two of us. Good luck and check in on our website and let them know they can come see you in person and pass a good time.

I recently ate at Cafe N’Orleans and am happy to say that the food is every bit as good as what I bought during 2 vacations to New Orleans.
The red beans and rice is spicy, creamy and simply delicious. The stright-from-New Orleans french bread is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside – exactly what they had in mind when the bread was invented.
The assorted po’boys offered all sound wonderful; however, so far I haven’t gotten to sample them all. The hamburger po’boy I had was awesome! You haven’t lived until you have eaten it slathered with tangy remoulade sauce instead of boring mayonnaise. Try it – I swear you’ll be hooked!
Smothered cabbage and sausage, shrimp creole, and the always tremendously tasty gumbo – all of the dishes scream NEW ORLEANS and the ones found here at this small cafe in Kingsport can hold their own against any served hundreds of times daily in the French Quarter. I know for I have been there.
Try the cafe au lait and whatever sweet offerings they are offering – Cafe du Monde is too far away for a daily cup and – lucky us!!! – we now have Cafe N’Orleans for a daily fix of this New Orleans standard.
Give this restaurant a try. Be patient though because it is quite small and when it gets busy – man, it gets jumpy in there. The wait is worth it – especially if you have never been lucky enough to go to the Big Easy.
Compared to the Crazy Cajun or Russo’s in Johnson City – I’ll take Cafe N’Orleans everytime. Better food, cozier atmosphere and friendlier people.
    Try it – you’ll like it – I gar-on-tee!!!!!!!

It is good to see such wonderful people come and start a new life in Kingsport. To top it off they brought with them wonderful food in a family atmosphere. Thank you Sherrie for delighting my taste buds like I’ve never had done before! I have enjoyed the True Orleanian, the Bourbon Street Chicken, and the Not Yo Mamma’s Chicken Salad Po’ boys! They where the best food I have had since my mother pasted away in 1986. Thanks again Sherrie!

    Fabulous!

Best gumbo I have ever had. The daily specials are very tasty. I can’t wait for them to be open evenings and adding crawfish to the menu. Sherrie and the gang are very friendly and really bend over backwards to please. I am overjoyed to have genuine cajun cuisine so close to home.

Words cannot describe how good the food is at Cafe N’Orleans. You’ve got to taste it to believe it. Smothered Cabbage, True Orleanian, Not ya Momma’s Chicken Salad just to name a few, are wonderful. Once you taste it you’ll have to go back time after time. I have to have a fix of the wonderful food at least once a week. Everyone of my friends and family that have gone there love it too. Sherrie is a wonderful person as well as a great cook.
Great food & friendly enviroment for all.

Coming from true New Orleanean’s my husband and I love Cafe New Orleans. The atmosphere reminds us of home. You don’t find many restaraunts where the owners find time to sit and chat with you. That is a “Chalmette” thing. We love the food. We have Had the Red Beans & rice, Gumbo, French Onion Soup, Roast Beef Po Boy, French Fry Po Boy, Bread Pudding, etc. Everything is wonderful!! We will keep going back not only for the food but for the atmosphere & the people. Thanks Sherry, Kenny & the gang.
