Another Dumpster, Another Renovation in Downtown Kingsport (Completed Pictures on the Way!!)
Posted by DownTown Kingsport Square on September 29, 2008
I never thought I’d be so happy to see dumpsters parked on the sides of the road in our Downtown.
But in the last couple years, this has been the outward sign that renovations are going on inside. The photo is of the building on the corner of Commerce and Market.
The owner is tearing out the drop ceilings to expose the original tin ceilings and brick walls. I’m looking forward to watching this transformation in the making.

I wanted to let you know that this restoration project is now complete and the gallery is open for business as of this past Saturday 4/18/09. Come by to visit and purchase art from the talented artists who are running the gallery, Cindy Saadeh and Michael and Talina Ripper. Cindy is a paint artist from Charleston, SC. She purchased the building last year and is sharing the gallery space with Michael Ripper who is a custom furniture maker, painter, and a potter! Talina Ripper is a photographer and also does beautiful crochet for pocket books and scarves! Michael has been working in Banner Elk, NC making custom furniture for the past 2 years. They are not only opening their business in Downtown Kinsport, but Michael and Talina are relocating their home and family into one of Urban Synergy’s Urban Lofts on Broad Street in the old Sterchi’s Furniture Building!!
